Help Theresa Stay Home

Hi, my name is Mark Wahl and, unfortunately, my wife Theresa has suffered two strokes. One on Monday, October 9th while in the hospital being treated for a complication from her cancer treatment. The other November 25th. Each stroke affected opposite sides of her body. She spent 4 weeks between the acute care and rehabilitation hospitals after each stroke. She only spent 3 weeks at home between the strokes and has now been home a week this time.

She uses her wheelchair except for transferring and for 5 minute walks daily. She begins outpatient therapy twice a week beginning Tuesday, January 2nd.

The major issue is that we are converting our first floor bathroom into a handicap bathroom and put the washer and dryer on the first floor as well. We will also be converting the family room on the 1st floor into a main bedroom.

The estimate to do this conversion and get all the necessary equipment is between $50,000 to $60,000. We are both retired and now on fixed incomes. Any help you can offer, no matter the amount, will be greatly appreciated.
