Hello friends and family, my name is Keshia I am Kevin's oldest "Daughter". Words cannot even begin to describe the world shattering events that have taken place this week that have left us all with a hole in our hearts. Kevin was rushed to the hospital Saturday afternoon after being found by his girls. He was in a DKA coma ( Diabetic ketoacidosis) upon arrival to the hospital Kevin was fighting for his life. This is where his heart wrenching story begins. Kevin was sent up for a CT where they had discovered his colon and big intestine were dead. They did surgery to remove the damage and his small intestine was questionable so they decided to leave him open and return the next day with a better view. through out the night Kevin was touch and go. Tuesday morning the DR. informed us he was too sick to do the surgery that day and wanted him to rest for the day. As family came and went saying their prayers Kevin was fighting like he has never fought before. Wednesday came and they took our dad for surgery at 2 pm. Kevin finally returned to his room where his girls were all waiting. We were told they removed roughly a third of his small intestines. We were all so happy the surgery was a success and started to prepare for the long road ahead. Later that night we got the news that his blood oxygen level was dropping and to prepare for the worse. As family gathered to say their goodbyes Kevin was taken off the sleeping medicine and was able to hear everyone. With a shrug of his shoulders and a turn of his head he let us know he was with us. Unfortunately his body was to tired to keep fighting. The Drs put him back to sleep. that night his kidneys and lungs were not functioning correctly and had shut down. At 8:55 on Thursday November 7 our father passed away surrounded by his family. We are left with this devastating passing of our Dad. We are asking for any assistance as we plan his celebration of life. With this sudden traumatic event no one was ready for this dark burden that has been put up on us.
