Help this IOW team achieve their DofE Gold Award
We are a group of young people from across the Isle of Wight, trying to achieve our dream of completing our Duke of Edinburgh Gold award.
We are planning a five-day watersports expedition on the Caledonian Canal in Scotland this August. The expedition and the training involved will improve our canoeing, campcraft and navigation as well as helping us develop essential life skills such as teamwork and resilience.
So far, five of us, aged between sixteen and twenty-three, are committed to taking part in this challenge. All of us have worked over several years to complete our Bronze and Silver awards by volunteering in the local community, learning new skills and sports, hiking and camping. This is the biggest step towards completing our DofE journey.
We want to prove that people on the Island can have equal opportunities to those living on the mainland, and that we can all achieve our goals and ambitions. We hope to inspire other young people, including the younger DofE participants at our youth centre in Brading, to go for Gold.
This is going to be a life-changing adventure for us. Thank you for your support!
