Help Thoma Mitre Battle Cancer
Donation protected
In June of 2020, Thoma Mitre, my caring, and amazing father, was diagnosed with Advanced Pancreatic and Bladder Cancer. As a family, we have been reeling his diagnosis and doing our best to provide loving caretaking to him to help maintain his quality of life. He is currently getting the best care at Sloan and Kettering as he undergoes chemotherapy on a bi-weekly basis.
My father has since used all his paid time off (PTO) and gone on Extended Family Medical Leave. Simultaneously, my mother's hours at work were greatly reduced so she could dedicate time to be by my father's side during these testing times. She is now staying home full-time to take care of him while my brother and myself provide intermittent caretaking services while fulfilling our professional obligations so that we can help fill my mother and father’s financial gap.
I have created this GoFundMe account to seek assistance to cover their monthly obligations totaling $ 3,600 for COBRA Benefits, Mortgage, and other medical expenses. Although my brother and I have taken over most of their bills, we cannot satisfy all financial obligations. If we canceled his current insurance and went with the state's insurance plan, he would have to go out of network and out of pocket to pay for his treatments at Sloan. This would prove difficult without going into significant debt. It was a hard decision to make for us especially given how great Sloan has been with their communication, his treatments, and medication. We also did not want to switch his treatment routine as this could have further compromised his declining health.
We have had so much support during this time and even had the wonderful people at my dad's Church, St. George Orthodox Church in (Ocean Township, NJ) create an account to help deliver meals to our front door. It has been a tremendous help for my family and one less thing to worry about. I have put the link below if you would also like to contribute this way.

Thank you for taking the time out of your day to read this. We are very thankful for everyone who has reached out and helped in any way so far.
Thank you,
Stefani Mitre
