Help Thomas Cottrell Fight Cancer

My name is Kristina and I am trying to raise money to help with the medical costs of my dad's cancer treatment.

My dad, Thomas Cottrell, is 61 and has a wife, 7 children, and 21 grandchildren that love and admire him dearly.

After a few doctor's appointments and a biopsy, my father was diagnosed with vocal cord cancer on 6/27/2024. The doctor wants to do 5 weeks of radiation - 5 days a week with resting on weekends. We cannot start treatment until we come up with finances to cover. Unfortunately, my father does not have health insurance.

We have been jumping through hoops trying to get him some sort of coverage through charity care or Medicaid but have not had any luck because he is a homeowner.

He has been out of work for a few weeks, and we have been coming together to pay all of his medical bills and his home expenses out of pocket. As you know, cancer treatment is extremely expensive and this opens a whole new world of obstacles for us.

If you know my dad, then you know he would give the shirt off his back to help someone. Through the 37 years of my life, I have witnessed my dad be one of the most generous, selfless human beings to ever walk this earth. He has always been so hardworking and has never fallen short of providing for his family even in the worst conditions. He would help anyone in need. He has done so much community work and has donated his money, time, and resources to youth programs and other organizations because that's just the person he is.

Growing up, I remember witnessing my dad work so hard to provide. There were times we had very little, and my dad would do what he had to, to scratch up whatever he had to feed us or keep a roof over our head. All his life he worked so hard with 7 kids to finally purchase a home 7 years ago. It was always his dream to purchase a home of his own after renting and stewarding over someone else's blessings for so long. The last thing we want to do is take his home from him and sell the one thing he worked so hard for. We pray that will be our last resort.
