Help Thomas get a fresh start with court fines.

Thank you all for your generosity. I happened upon Thomas one night. He was lying under a bridge soaking wet in 23 degree temps. With the help of a friend, I was able to get him a room for the night. So many people reached out and helped Thomas with personal needs like proper outerwear, laundry detergent, tarps for his tent and so many other things. He has now entered a one year program for rehabilitation at Teen Challenge. He will work 40 hours a week to pay for half of his stay. He will be responsible for the other 1200.00 monthly for the rest of the program. He only has 4 hours a month that he can work off campus to raise this.
Thomas became homeless when his father was incarcerated and he was left to try and pay the bills on his own. This young man has been such a joy to know and help. If you feel moved to help him, please do. His court fines are $2000- $3000 but we may be able to get those reduced. I’m working on that with help navigating the court system from a few kind people in the community. Any funds over that will go to him at Teen Challenge and I’m not sure about this but I believe you can donate directly to Teen Challenge for
Thomas Shafer.
Thank you, Karen Gewalt LaFayette
