Help Thomas on his road to recovery
On the 9th March 2021 the world of our 20 year old boy, a keen Bristol Rovers Fan was turned upside down.
He was cycling along a notorious part of A4174 near the Hambrook lights in Bristol when he was struck at speed by a motor vehicle. He consequently was hit by 2 other vehicles.
Emergency services attended the scene and were quick to discover that Tom had suffered a severe head trauma. He was anaesthetized by the critical care team at the scene and transported to hospital.
We as parents were notified by the police and transported by blue lights and sirens to see Tom before he underwent surgery to relief the pressure on his brain, and insert an icp gauge.
We honestly thought we were saying our last goodbye to our darling boy.
After a successful surgery Tom spent the next 5 days under full sedation and full ventilation.
It has now been 10 days and Tom is still in intensive care but he is awake and breathing for himself. He is unable to eat and drink and can only speak very few words.
As a result of this accident Tom has a serious brain injury and will need to learn to do many things that we as humans take for granted.
We have set up this page to help Tom with his everyday living when he does eventually leave the hospital, and to help him adapt to a world that may have previously been unknown to him.
We would be so grateful if you could help.
Sincerely,
Toms Family
