Hurricane Milton struck the west coast of Florida as a powerful Category 3 storm, bringing extreme wind, flash flooding and devastating damage to communities. Over the last two weeks, people in the Southeast have been recovering from unimaginable, large-scale disasters — first Hurricane Helene, and now Milton. The American Red Cross is leading a massive response to ensure no one faces these challenges alone.

Over 2,100 Red Cross disaster responders are working 24/7 with partners to provide safe shelter, meals and emotional support to those affected across multiple states including Florida, Georgia, the Carolinas, Tennessee and more. Tens of thousands of people have already taken refuge in shelters, and we’ve distributed meals, water, and relief supplies in some of the hardest-hit areas.
