Help those with Borderline Personality Disorder

Donation protected
My name is Daniel Podobinski. I've suffered with acute mental issues through the majority of my adult life (~ 7 years), such as depression and various forms of anxiety. This has, unfortunately, had a huge impact on how my life evolved, culminating in a near suicide in 2019. Since then, whether you're religiously inclined or not, I believe I was given a second chance to try to settle my issues once and for all. I had been seeing councillors, psychologists and psychiatrists with various levels of success. Finally, this year I was diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), a moment which essentially unravelled all the mysteries I had concerning my behaviour over the years. It was like the infamous twist at the end of a drama film, for example, in that all of a sudden, everything that had happened made sense. This provided me with a massive sense of relief, for I was able to change my perspective on what I deemed to be somewhat traumatic events in my past, thus reducing the pessimism and "grey" outlook on life that I had accumulated. In addition, thanks to the wonderful work of a few psychologists I have seen in the last two years, I have picked up coping mechanisms which have reigned in the wild horse that is BPD, so that it no longer negatively impacts my life.

It's estimated that around 1% of all people suffer from BPD, with around 1 in ten people committing suicide. From Wiki: "BPD is a personality disorder characterized by a long-term pattern of unstable interpersonal relationships, distorted sense of self, and strong emotional reactions. Those affected often engage in self-harm and other dangerous behaviours, often due to their difficulty with returning their emotional level to a healthy or normal baseline."

Now that I know what having this disorder is like, I want to help those with BPD in any way I can. The underlying mechanisms are still not well understood, and given my background as a scientist, I thought that the most appropriate way to help would be to donate to an institution studying BPD in order to facilitate any research focusing on on BPD so as to help further our understanding of this condition, so that we can help save and improve lives that are poisoned by this debilitating disorder. I will be keeping this fundraiser open for several weeks in order to best increase the chances of reaching my goal of £1000.

I appreciate any donation given, no matter how small. If you cannot donate, feel free to share, that is still more than enough.

Thank you very much.
