My mother Thuy Nguyen needs your help

Hi, my name is Ann Nguyen. I am fundraising on behalf of my mother, Thuy Nguyen, who is recovering from a liver transplant.

For the past 5 years, my mother has had many medical and financial troubles. In 2018, my mother had a stroke that left the right side of her body completely paralyzed and she was unable to eat or talk. Through intensive rehab, she regained her ability to talk and move around.

However, she didn’t fully recover to work at her nail salon. And once the COVID-19 pandemic hit, my mom struggled with medical (no insurance) and personal debt and was unable to keep her nail business, Heidi’s Nails, which she had for over 10 years.

While she was in the hospital, she was also diagnosed with Primary Biliary Cholangitis, a chronic liver disease with a life expectancy of 10-15 years.

Right now, she has been in the hospital for nearly 2 months, recovering from her blessed transplant surgery after her liver started failing in December 2022. She is expected to return home to one small room that my mother and father rent in a crowded basement of someone’s home.

For those who know my mother, you know that she is friendly, sweet, and always there to take care of you. If you wanted egg rolls, she would show up with a full tray the next day. She loves everybody she meets.

Because of her surgery, she is unable to return to work for a while. We are currently trying to get disability benefits, but my mother and father’s only income is from my 80-year-old dad’s Social Security. I’ve been helping them with rent, bills, and debt for over 7 years…but as an only child, I can only do so much.

I would love to be able to find them a better home in a safe environment, and enough money to help them have income. I hope you all can help me in giving my parents the support they need to recover, and even prosper.

Many of you may not know of my low-income background because my mother always made sure I didn’t have to worry about money, and she did all she could to make sure I would fit in with those around me. She is an amazing woman, and it would mean everything if you could donate—even if it’s just 5 dollars.
