On Wednesday morning, April 18, Greg Jacobs' house on Sylvania burned down due to an electrical short outdoors. Dallas Fire-Rescue rocks! They arrived quickly and worked with astounding efficiency. He and his two dogs are safe, but his house and classic Cadillac are a total loss.

Greg has a long road ahead. Insurance won't cover it all and payments are rarely timely. Almost everything in the house was incinerated — clothing and personal care items, dog supplies, food and kitchenware, furnishings — so he is starting from scratch. Temporary housing for him and the dogs and initial salvage operations will be costly as well.

As a long-time Volunteer in Patrol, Greg has been a good neighbor to us all. As the legal counsel for Eastwood Neighborhood Association, his expertise has also benefitted us. He is cared about by many.

So give to Greg as he has given to the community. You'll feel so good about it.
