Help With Funeral Expenses for Tia Chang
Donation protected
It is with great sadness that Tia lost her battle with kidney disease yesterday morning (Sat, 1/7). Tia fought and remained positive until her journey came to an end. Her last message to us is "love each other, spend more time together and take care of each other". Tia's love, laughter and silliness that lit up every room will be deeply missed by us all.
Thank you for helping us reach our first goal and for being there for my brother Charlie and his kids. Although we are facing a different journey now, we want to thank you all for being here with us through this and as we close this chapter and celebrate her life we hope to have continued support and love from you all.

Love, The Chang Family
If you have the privilege to know Tia, she is a lively, wonderful, silly, kind, soft spoken, loving person, and a wonderful mother of four. One of her strengths is to encourage people and make you laugh. She has a big heart and personality that leaves an impression on you. She gives her time and lends an ear anytime anyone needs it.
This year Tia has faced many unexpected health challenges that has disrupted her life. Tia first learned about her diagnoses in 2004, while testing to be a donor for her husband who at the time was also on dialysis and suffering from kidney disease. The doctors could not say how quickly the disease would progress; despite the diagnoses, Tia continued living a normal-healthy life.
Fast forward to July 2021, Tia’s kidney declined; she started dialysis and was added to the transplant list.
On June 15th, 2022, she received news that a kidney was available, and it was a match. The following day, Tia was in surgery. Recovery was slow, but she was improving. Unfortunately, after a few months, the doctors determined that the new kidney was not working, and Tia went back on the transplant list.
September 28th, another kidney was available, she was in surgery the next day. After a little over a week Tia was discharged from the hospital and recovering at home. Shortly after being discharged Tia was having chest pain and admitted back to the hospital. Doctors found two infections and pneumonia in her lungs. Tia was immediately moved to ICU, intubated, moved to a feeding tube and on antibiotics.
Since being admitted, Tia has been in and out of the operating room with a growing list of complications that has made her dependent on a feeding tube, leaving her body very weak and fragile.
As of today, the doctors, unfortunately, have found more issues. Tia’s stomach lining was punctured; in other words, none of the nutrients were getting into her system from the feeding tube. As a result, she had to go back to the operating room to drain the fluid and seal the puncture. Tia has been in and out of surgery multiple times in just a few months. It has created a great deal of stress emotionally, physically, and financially.
We appreciate everyone that has reached out to our family and to Charlie and Tia directly. Your support has not gone unnoticed. As Tia continues to fight through this, we ask that you keep Tia, Charlie and the kids in your prayers and send them good vibes.
Tia and Charlie are not the kind to ask for help or look for sympathy. Tia has not been able to return to work since June and Charlie as the main caregiver, has not been able to work either. Any amount that we raise from this gofundme will go to help Tia and Charlie with their accumulating medical expenses. Your support means so much to our family.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for your prayer, support, and donation.
