Help Tiana Get Life-Saving Cancer Treatment

Hi everyone,

My name is Tiana. I’m 31 years old and a mother of 2 (an 11-year-old son and a 1-year-old daughter). I've been in generally good health my whole life. I’ve never dealt with any major health concerns until these last 5 months (the fact I am even typing this still comes as a surprise to me).

This all started in August when I was having acid reflux and early satiety after eating. I thought it was normal because I started changing my diet to eat more protein and nutritionally dense foods. As time progressed, things got worse - I started getting burning in my stomach, which I’ve never experienced before. I went to the Urgent Care and I was diagnosed with stomach ulcers. I was given medication and hoped it would clear up within a few months. About 2 months into taking my medication, I started getting more sick - I was unable to eat or drink anything without forcefully vomiting everything back up. I was finally able to see a Gastroenterologist to get an endoscopy done and was told I had H. Pylori and ulcers along with pyloric stenosis. My pylorus closed up so nothing was able to leave my stomach and enter my small intestines. She inserted a stent into my pylorus, which gave me so much relief for 3 months. I was able to eat, drink, and take my medication for the ulcers and H. Pylori. I thought I was getting my life back.

When it came time to remove my stent, she biopsied my stomach wall and the biopsies came back positive for stomach cancer.

It is an aggressive form of cancer so the doctors are moving quickly to get my treatment started. I start chemo in two weeks, right after Christmas. After chemo, I will have to have a total gastrectomy, then I will need to do another round of chemo.

I’m not usually one to ask for help, but this has been really hard on me and my family, especially right before Christmas. Our lives were turned upside down in a matter of days.

I’m planning on getting my chemo done locally, but I do want to go to a cancer hospital, such as Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. They offer a more minimally invasive surgery for my type of cancer since I will have to get a full stomach removal. I am asking for donations to help with my trips to the hospital and care that will be done there. Anything leftover will go towards my children.

I’m not going to let cancer win and I’m going to fight this!
