Help Tim & Amy with Cancer Care Expenses

I'm Trasi Judd, one of Amy's close friends, and part of her "Hyde Park Gal Pal" friend group.

I'm organizing this GoFundMe to help Tim and Amy with expenses related to Tim's cancer care.

For those who aren't aware, Tim was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2017 and had a radical prostatectomy followed by radiation. Unfortunately, those treatments helped prolong Tim's life but didn't provide a cure.

Last year, the cancer spread to Tim's bones. Since then, Amy has been Tim's primary caretaker, and they were both able to work until October when two major events happened. On October 13, Amy was laid off from her job where she managed freelance writers. On October 14, Tim fell and broke his leg. From there, Tim's condition has worsened and he's also had to stop working due to a loss of mobility and fatigue from treatments.

Since Tim's fall, Amy has been unable to apply for jobs and work because Tim's caretaking needs have increased significantly. She is taking on some freelance writing when she can fit it in, but full-time work at this time isn't an option for her. Tim is currently in Hospice care at home, with the possibility of moving to a Hospice facility if his pain management needs increase.

Amy talks about how there should be a hashtag that simply says #EverybodyneedsTim because Tim has spent his lifetime caring for others and helping others in need. She only has to list the ways Tim has cared for neighbors on their street through the years before it's evident he's cared for almost everyone on the street at some point in their 15 years there. And so many others. He even came upon a Japanese calligraphy set at a yard sale and immediately thought of my daughter who adores Japan and is studying Japanese. For him to even remember this and think of my kiddo is amazing. Multiply that by 10,000 and that's Tim.

While Tim and Amy never thought they would be in a position to need help themselves, their health insurance isn't adequate, and the expenses associated with Tim's situation are an added stressor for the family.

Funds will be used to cover medical bills owed to Texas Oncology, to help with private nursing care, to help with the many unexpected expenses related to cancer care, and to help with final arrangements when that sad day arrives.
