Help Tim Conquer Brain Cancer and Inspire Hope

Dear friends, supporters, and compassionate individuals,

My name is Tim Grossglauser, a 42-year-old husband and father to a wonderful 14-year-old son. Today, I reach out to you with a mixture of hope, determination, and a request for your support.

My Story:

My journey began in June when I unexpectedly lost the use of my left hand and experienced partial arm paralysis. MRI scans revealed spinal impingement and stenosis between the C5-C7 vertebrae, requiring two artificial disc implants. However, after undergoing surgery on June 26th, 2023, it became evident that there might be an underlying cause as I experienced little to no improvement.

Unfortunately, my struggles didn't end there. On July 4th, 2023, I suffered a severe seizure that resulted in being rushed to the Kootenai Hospital emergency room. Extensive testing revealed a 5cm mass in my brain plus surrounding swelling and edema exerting extreme pressure against the motor cortex responsible for left-side movement plus the remainder of the brain. Further investigations through an MRI unveiled a primary glial neoplasm—a cystic and solid mass located within the right frontal and parietal lobes.

The Journey Continues:

With a sense of urgency, I underwent reduction surgery on July 7th, which successfully removed approximately 93% of the tumor without causing extensive damage to my left-side movement and other brain functions. However, my battle against brain cancer is far from over.

Current Situation and Treatment: (High-Grade Glioma )

As I recover at home, I face a long and arduous road to recovery. Physical therapy is crucial for regaining movement and function on my left side. Additionally, standard treatments such as chemotherapy and targeted radiation are part of my treatment plan. While these treatments provide temporary relief, they often result in further damage and tumor regrowth. Fortunately, there are other promising options with long-term published success rates. Sadly, these alternatives are not covered by insurance, leaving the burden on me to seek alternative avenues as costs can surpass $250,000 on top of the existing bills for the hospital stay, brain surgery, PT, chemo pills, and radiation (over $150,000 after insurance).
