Help Timor Leste (East Timor) Flooding Victims
On April 3rd, 2021, while we celebrated Easter, a natural disaster occured to our north. A tropical storm has hit East Timor, leaving hundreds of properties damaged or washed away, sadly many have died and many more are unaccounted for. Food supplies have been destroyed or contaminated, and disease is a huge concern.
Many of the heroic women that work with the poorest communities in East Timor are the religious sisters of many Catholic Orders. The Easter floods in Dili and elsewhere in the country have seriously damaged their houses, schools, medical clinics, orphanages and other essential facilities. This has come at a time when East Timor is also dealing with COVID-19 in large numbers.
The Orders we will support initially are:
Dominican Sisters
Canossian Sisters
Franciscan Sisters
Charles Borromeo Sisters
My aim is to raise funds quickly to help them provide life saving services like food parcels and shelter to the poor. For more information I will be adding posts to our Mission Ossu Timor Leste page on Facebook and as funds come in I will be sharing where they are being distributed.
