Help Tina Newton Fight Cancer

Hello Friends!

Today I'm coming to you to talk about something close to my heart. My dear friend, Tina Newton of Blue Moon Fiber Arts, is in a challenging place. Her cancer is back.

Most of you probably know who Tina is. She's the force behind Socks that Rock. She's been in the industry for a very long time and has helped many people in the fiber arts world. She is one of the creators of Sock Summit. She has probably forgotten more about fiber and dyeing than most people will ever know.

For me... it's very personal. She is one of the closest friends that I have ever had. She has been my mentor and confidant for so many years. She kept me going when all I wanted to do was quit. She's called me on my bullshit. And she's helped me face my failures while encouraging me to see and live up to my potential. I love this beautiful woman. And she has shown me genuine love in return.

During her first round with breast cancer... I used to call her during her chemo treatments and tell her dirty jokes. Sometimes they were funny, and I know it probably helped a little. Sometimes I probably wasn't' funny... but she laughed all the same because she knew I just wanted to be there for her.

She has that effect on people. You want to be there for her because she always takes the time to be there for her friends. She is real. She is sincere. She doesn't use people. She honestly cares about the people in her life. And speaking of friends, once you have a friend like Tina--the world is much less lonely and cold.

As I said... Tina's cancer is back. This time it is in her bones. She wants to fight, and things are looking good! She does need some help. The medical expenses are racking up. The medication she needs is expensive. She needs our help. And while she would never ask... I will.

This lady is one of the best people I've ever met. If you ask others in our industry... they'll tell you the same. I want to help ensure that she has some money to help offset so many of these medical expenses while she fights the good fight. She needs to concentrate on getting better. She needs to not worry about the day-to-day bills (medical or other). We can help her with this.

If you were at Sock Summit and enjoyed yourself... please consider donating. If you went to one of Tina's sock camps... please consider donating. If you had ever purchased yarn from Tina and found yourself delighted in that yarn when you received it... please consider donating. If you've ever taken a class from Tina and felt you learned something... please consider donating.

This woman is an icon and a force for good in our industry. She has always given more than she received. Even now, she's not asking. I am. It doesn't have to be a lot. Many hands make light work. Anything you could contribute would be so gratefully appreciated by Tina, her kids, and me.

Thank you for your consideration.

All my best.
