Help Tito Fight Leukemia
My name is DIASNAILER Mustelier, Tito to my close friends. I am originally from Cuba and I’ve spent all my life fighting for my freedom and a better life for me, my daughter and my family.
After fleeing persecution in cuba due to my political views and my sexual orientation, I was placed in the Migrant Protection Protocols and lived in the Mexican southern border with the United States for almost 2 years. During that time I suffered from being an immigrant in a cartel controlled city in a constant state of fear of kidnapping or murder.
I fought my case on immigration court and lost my asylum claim and later the appeal to this decision. I was finally allowed to stay in the US and thought my struggles had ended but it was just the beginning of another battle.
Shortly after crossing into the United States, I sustained an accident that shattered my left ankle, I had to undergo many surgeries to try to correct the trauma and surgical plates and screws were put in to treat fracture. This kept me in bed and incapacitated for several months. Little by little I was able to regain control of my leg and sort of take control of my life again and get back to work to be able to support my daughter and family who are still in Cuba. I continued to struggle with pain and discomfort on that leg but I powered through it as I have done before in other obstacles in my life.
But this was just another obstacle in my life, the worst was yet to come. I recently ended on the emergency room because I was not feeling well and after close examination the doctors rushed me to the ICU. After several blood transfusions and many tests, I was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia. I have been hospitalized since May at the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. I have been undergoing a high intensity chemotherapy and have suffered many complications from treatment and my prognosis is guarded. To make matters worse, as a result of liquid retention from the chemotherapy I have contracted an infection on my left leg and despite all efforts to improve this, the doctors have decided that the best solution forward is to amputate my left leg in order to continue with the chemotherapy safely.
This is a tremendous blow to my life and my ability to support my family. I have no family here in the US, except my 80 year old grandmother.
I reluctantly decided to set this go fund me in order to raise funds to support my grandmother and me through this period in which I cannot work and also to help with medical costs and medicines.
Anything will be highly appreciated and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. God bless you.
