Help to build a permanent classroom in Kenya
Donation protected
I will be turning 30 in February and to mark that occasion, I decided to travel to Kenya to volunteer with Blessed Children's Hope Foundation and their school, Benevolent Hope Academy, to help with the children and in building permanent classroom structures.
Benevolent Hope Academy offers year-round care and education to about 140 disadvantaged students ages 3.5 to 13 years old in the community. Many of the classrooms are built with temporary materials, but they have decided that all new classrooms will be built with permanent materials as the school and classrooms continue to grow. One of their goals is to build six permanent classrooms and they have successfully been able to build two as of January 2020.
This is an example of the temporary classroom:
and this is the newest permanently constructed classroom:
The total cost of building a new classroom is $3,500 and I am hoping to raise $1,200 to supply the bricks and related materials to help them to accomplish their goals. Any amount that you can contribute will be helpful and I really appreciate any and all support!
Please contact me with any questions or if you would like to learn other ways you can help.
About Blessed Children's Hope Foundation
Blessed Children’s Hope Foundation was founded by Andrew Maina Mong’are in early 2009. It was then registered as a non-profit organization in 2012, with the aim of alleviating suffering among the communities of Kenya that have been hit by poverty, hunger and diseases.
Blessed Children’s Hope Foundation is determined to reach orphans, widows and abandoned children as well as poor starving families in the community.
As a non-profit organization, their priority is to improve the quality of living standards in the community through the provision of support, love and care in the form of education, feeding programs, empowerment, recreational activities, health care, clean water and clothing. Their interventions are based on the understanding and appreciation that community needs cannot be separated from the general care of children and, therefore, responses have to be developed as part of broader based community care initiatives. We deliver support, care and guidance to families, parents, guardians and caregivers that are directly affected by HIV/AIDS and make contributions to community based actions to uplift and support families fostering young children.
