Help to fix a home and raise awareness for MH

Donation protected
Hi all,
I’m Andrew, my partner is Jan.
15 years ago, my partner and his family moved to Australia and were given this lovely home to reside in under agreement with the owner. 10 years later, Jan’s mother moved out of the property and Jan moved back in, bringing me along too and we happily lived there for another 2 years. During these 12 years, this wasn’t only a house but a home full of loving memories.
Enter Emily, a person we thought of as a friend. Single mother with 3 children.
In 2019, Jan and I felt like a change and decided to move interstate. The owner of the property asked us to find someone to take over and what perfect timing! Emily was struggling to find a place for her and her kids so we offered her to move in and take over.
In the beginning, everything was going smoothly enough. A few bumps in the road but nothing too amiss. How wrong we were.
This year, everything changed. Emily was given 3 months notice to vacate in July, with an exit date of 10/10/2022. The reason? Over the past year, every attempt to inspect the property was met with excuse after excuse. Her kids were sick, she was ill, covid, her father had passed. Finally we start to see the red flags.
October 10 comes and goes with Emily still in the property. She had stopped paying rent and claimed fear for herself and her children. The eviction process has started.
Fast forward to 14/11 and the Real estate agent who has taken over the property has an anonymous call that she had finally left. Thinking our nightmare was over, Jan and I went to the house to inspect what was left for us. What we found instead of the beautiful home we remembered is nothing more than an absolute horror show. Every wall drawn on, broken furniture throughout, rubbish and bodily fluids everywhere. Now Emily has taken to the hills and left us with this destroyed memory and heart break.
This fundraiser isn’t only to help us reinstate this beautiful family home but also raise awareness that mental health doesn’t only affect the person suffering, but everyone around them as well. Any funds left over from the fix up will be donated to a local mental health organization to help those who need help.
Any help you can give is warmly appreciated.
