Help to Heal: Katie’s Cancer Journey
Donation protected
**MAY UPDATE**
First and most importantly- THANK YOU ALL!!! From the bottom of our hearts, thank you all so much for the generous donations, messages, cards, texts, and calls. It has made this journey so much easier
Now for the best news….. Katie has completed chemo!!! 16 rounds of treatment over 20 weeks. Our girl was a true hero and the epitome of strength during the entire treatment.
We now have a month off for her body to heal before surgery. On June 24th, Katie will undergo a double mastectomy to remove the remaining cancer and help prevent future reoccurrence. Recovery will be about 4-6 weeks and followed by radiation.
For now we are so excited to be finished with one of the hardest parts and are ready to tackle the next step together.
Thank you all again for your continued support on this journey.
Amanda and Katie

As many of you know Katie was diagnosed with Stage 2 Breast Cancer in December 2023 right before her 33rd birthday.
Some background: we moved to Atlanta in September 2023 for a new adventure and man did we get one! In late October Katie found a lump in her breast and we hurried to find new doctors in the area. November was spent completing multiple tests. December was an emotional rollercoaster waiting for more results and a game plan from her docs at Piedmont Hospital. The new year brought us to the start of her chemotherapy journey, 16 rounds of chemo over 24 weeks! Then surgery and radiation to come this summer.
With the chemo schedule and side effects Katie’s oncologist advised against working full time, especially working in healthcare around sick patients with her weakened immune system which has left us as a single income household since the holidays. Even with health insurance after multiple MRIs, biopsy’s, ultrasounds, scans, labs, chemo meds, office visits, and a port placement, the medical bills have unfortunately made a new comfy home in our mailbox.
We have tried to put this off for as long as possible but we are now asking family, friends, and community for some financial help during this time. $8,000 for a Cat Scan!? Who are we!? Beyoncé!?
If you feel compelled to support us any and all help is so greatly appreciated!! These funds will go towards her medical bills and allow peace of mind during this healing process. Katie is continuing to be positive and fight onward through her cancer journey.
