Help to provide my dad home care & expenses

Hi, my name is Stephanie Perley. I have desperately resisted doing this, but I am in desperate need of help. My dad, Tony Perley, has been I’ll with cancer for quite some time. He has battled various cancers on and off for close to 35 years. He beat 6 different bouts of it over the years, and come out ahead, but this time it is not a battle he can win. He has metastatic melanoma and he has degraded pretty quickly. I have done everything in my power to keep him home and comfortable and I have been successful with that up until now. Unfortunately, my parents lived and worked in a time when 401k was not widely available and saving for retirement just wasn’t a big thing since pension and/or social security would be there to take care of you. Unfortunately, my dad has no pension and his SS is not nearly enough for, well, anything. Medicare does not pay for long term care or home care and he has been rejected from receiving Medicaid. I am desperately trying to keep him home for his final days, but yesterday it became overly apparent that I cannot do this alone. I can’t move him on my home, get him to the bathroom, bathe him, etc…I’m going to end up hurting him or me or both. I need a home health aide, but I just don’t have the money to pay the $25-$40 an hour I have been quoted so far. I know times are tight for everyone, but I would be so very grateful for any support anyone can provide. I absolutely hate asking. This is humbling and humiliating all in one, but I am out of options. Thanks for reading anyway, and for all the emotional support all of you have already provided. If I receive anything extra, it will go to pay for his funeral costs as I don’t have that either. Thanks.
