Help to repair this Ancient Church in Bulgaria!
Donation protected
Hello everyone,
I need your help! I am trying to help raise money for the repair of the “St. Dimitar” church in my grandmother and late grandfather’s hometown of Resen, Bulgaria (near Veliko Tarnovo). The Church is a beautiful orthodox church constructed over 100 years ago. It is perhaps the only public building in the village that has survived for that long, preserving its grandeur and dignity. However, lately its condition has started to drastically worsen. The roof is leaking, it needs new windows, some of the murals need to be restored, and many other repairs are needed. The village and the community are struggling to come up with money to do these repairs. The church means a lot to everyone in the village and their families outside of Bulgaria as it represents the legacy of their predecessors who built the church in years of wars over 100 years ago. It will be a shame to see this beautiful church that I visit every year deteriorate and fall into ruin.
Significant funds are required to carry out these urgent repairs. The church board collected various proposals that estimate that the main repairs will cost over $45,000. A campaign was organized to raise funds for the repairs, but so far, they have only collected about 10% of the necessary amount. For that reason, I am asking for your help to raise some of the additional funds that are required to complete the repairs! I am donating some of the money that I earned at my summer job as a lifeguard. I believe that if all of us come together, we can help to raise enough money to save the beautiful church! I really appreciate your help with this!
