Help to save Bonnie’s leg

Donation protected
Hi, our not quite 2 year old Springer spaniel Bonnie was tragically hit by a car after being spooked out on a familiar evening walk. She couldn't find me after she'd ran off into the nearby woods, and despite my desperate attempts to find her and call her back to me, she made her way home. Unfortunately this involved crossing a main road where she was struck. Incredibly she made it from the road to the back gate of our home some 100 metres from that road. So many neighbours came out to help after witnessing the horrible accident. We were all in shock but had to act quickly to get her to the emergency Vets.

She was treated for shock and stabilised and her injuries were assessed with extensive X-rays. Aside from deep lacerations on her front and back legs and an extremely grazed belly, Bonnie has broken both her front legs but the right one more severely with a dislocated elbow. The Vet popped the elbow back in under general anaesthesia and applied a splint.

We are told that she would need a Specialist Orthopaedic Surgeon to perform corrective surgery to give her the best chance to regain a working joint in that leg. The other option would be amputation of the limb. Unfortunately the ideal option of surgery is expensive and although we have a good level of pet insurance cover for her we have nearly exhausted this due to the amount of care and treatments she has needed to keep her going so far.

We would love to be able to give her the best chance of keeping her leg as she is so young and has come through this trauma so well so far. The surgery cost alone is £6500 so any money raised will be used towards this.
Bonnie will need lots of aftercare and physiotherapy sessions to regain the strength in her leg if the surgery is successful. She has a long road ahead but we are told she can make an excellent recovery and lead a full and active life with the right treatment. We are doing everything we can to make this possible for her.
We know that this is a time of financial strain for so many and we find ourselves in that struggle, so if you are not able to donate please just share this post far and wide and we will be so grateful.

Bonnie is such a happy and loving dog and a huge part of our family, we just want to try and give her the best that she deserves.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read her story.
