Help to send eight rescued wadi dogs to the USA!
Who are Muscat Dog Adoption?
- Muscat Dog Adoption (MDA) is a dog rescue organization, established in 2005, run by a group of dog loving volunteers in Muscat, Oman. MDA's aim is to rescue abandoned, injured and distressed dogs in Muscat. Once in MDA's care, the rescued dogs receive necessary veterinary treatment such as vaccinations against diseases, neutering/spaying, worm and flea treatment and any other treatment that may be required. The rescued dogs are then taken to MDA's makeshift pound where they are placed alone or with another dog in a large safe kennel space. There is a superb kennel hand who feeds the dogs twice a day and keeps the kennels spotlessly clean. The dedicated volunteers visit the pound in their free time to walk and socialise the dogs, teach them basic commands and monitor their health and behaviour. This helps us to assess the dogs' personalities and determine what kind of home would be best suited for them. Some of our dogs are lucky to go into foster care which is great for them to have more one to one attention, be house trained and have regular walks in a variety of environments.
The difficulty of dog rescue in Oman:
- Oman has no animal welfare laws yet and as a consequence there is no government funding for charities or shelters. It is therefore very challenging rescuing dogs with limited resources but we do as much as we can within our means.
The lucky dogs going abroad:
- We have the opportunity to send five of our adorable rescue dogs to two rescues in the USA. Chloe, Range & Razza have all been in the pound for some time with no interest from potential adopters. Fergus has been in his foster home for a while and also with little interest. Mango is a very recent addition to the pound but after spending the past few months dodging bullets on the streets with her pups after being abandoned by her owner, we think she deserves a break and a chance of finding her forever home soon. All five dogs are lovely and sociable, who’ve either had an owner previously or been in foster. They are all more than ready to be loved as part of a family which is something not likely to happen in Oman so we are therefore sending them abroad to better their chances of finding the forever loving homes they all so deserve.
~ Fergus, Razza & Mango will be going to Greyhound Friends of New Jersey!
~ Chloe & Range will be going to Fast Friends Greyhound Adoption!
Why we need your help:
We need help with the costs of sending these five dogs to the USA. Here is a breakdown of the costs;
~ Air ticket: 135/165 OMR (£270/£330) (to New York) per dog
~ Export paperwork: 50 OMR (£100) per dog
~ Travel crate (depends on size of dog): 50-68 OMR (£100-136) per dog
How your donation will help:
- Your donation will go towards the above costs in helping the dogs to travel abroad for a better chance of finding their forever family! Any amount received is greatly appreciated by us and the dogs!
Staying updated:
- You can follow updates of Mango, Chloe, Range, Fergus & Razza on our Facebook & Instagram pages (muscatdogadoption). We also have a Facebook page called ‘Muscat Dog Adoption- From Street to Sofa’ where all the adopters, rescuers, volunteers and foster parents can keep updated about each dog once they have been adopted. When we receive updates of the dogs lay on the sofa or being taken on lovely long walks, it makes the difficult job of being in animal rescue completely worthwhile. Please help us to help them. We can’t wait to see pictures of all five dogs lay on a sofa! :)
Thank you!
