Update!!! 11.28.2023 #givingtuesday
Hi, friends….
I have taken it upon myself, again , to share an update and make a heartfelt request…. This one comes with a mix of large amounts of gratitude and some urgency. As most of you know, Chace's journey battling Stage 4 Ovarian Cancer started over a year ago. She's shown unparalleled strength and optimism while enduring two major surgeries and six rounds of chemotherapy. Despite her resilience, the financial strain of being out of work longer than expected, due to the postponement of her second surgery and the length of time for healing and recovery, is weighing heavily on Chace and her family.
As we approach the season of giving, let's rally around Chace and her sweet family with the love and generosity they so deserve. While I know this request is not one Chace wants to make, I am humbly making the request for her. That’s what friends do, right?! ☺️
If you find yourself in a place to be able to help with a contribution, whatever the size, it will greatly help carry them through this holiday season while Chace is continuing to heal and recover before her long awaited return to work, doing what she so loves. Your contributions will not only help alleviate their financial burdens but also serve as a beacon of hope and comfort during this challenging time.
The holidays are a reminder of the power of community and the warmth of support. Let's come together to ensure Chace and her family experience the love and joy of the season amidst their battle. Your donations and messages of encouragement make a HUGE difference in their lives.
Thank you for being a shining light in Chace's journey and for embodying the true spirit of giving. Your kindness knows no bounds and is deeply, deeply appreciated.
With heartfelt thanks and a huge hug,
Kristen
Original post— If only life were predictable, we would always make sure we perfectly planned for the moment when life threw us a curve ball. Alas, here we are, writing to you (family, friends and strangers) to humbly request assistance for the beautiful warrior that is Chace Roberts and her family.
For anyone that knows Chace, knows that she is a go-getter, a Super Mom, ALWAYS there for her family and friends and LOVES her job and the work she does with her special needs clients and their families. She is a glass-half-full, get-through-anything (no matter what it takes) type of person.
On October 30, 2022, Chace started experiencing abdominal pain that came on super quickly and with a vengeance. She is not one to complain or allow pain to get the best of her. When she realized that the pain was getting worse, she thought that maybe her appendix had ruptured. In true Chace fashion, she thought “I’ll just take myself to the ER up the road and if it is a ruptured appendix, they’ll just do the surgery, someone can come to pick me and we’ll get the car later.” Well, unfortunately, that was not the case. After initial testing did not render answers, she refused to leave without more complex testing knowing something wasn't right (and she was right). Hours later CT scans were back and she found herself immediately transferred/admitted into Advent Hospital. Within hours, on Halloween, Chace was diagnosed with Stage 4 Ovarian Cancer. The cause of the pain due to one of the tumors rupturing which caused fluid to build up in her abdomen. As you can imagine, this came as a great shock and has rocked their family.
Since October of last year, she has undergone numerous diagnostic tests, exploratory biopsies, endless amounts of bloodwork, scans, appointments, port flushes, etc. Her gyn-oncology team immediately began aggressive treatment with chemo infusions. Unfortunately, these infusions are extremely difficult on the physical body as well as on the immune system which has kept her from being able to continue doing the work she so loves. Further, she had to have an extensive and extremely intrusive surgery on February 8, 2023. During this surgery, they removed her reproductive organs, her greater omentum and her appendix. The 5-day hospital stay was then followed by a slow and difficult recovery at home and was not without medical setbacks. Throughout it all, Chace's tribe has surrounded her family with endless love and support with meal trains, love and prayers.
The journey ahead is still a very long one as she just recently learned that Chace has the BRCA 1 mutation, which places her at a much higher risk for future reoccurrence. Further surgeries and treatment protocols are in her future to limit the risk of other cancers. Something no one would ever like to think about. This, however, motivates Chace to fight even harder (if that were even possible) to get back the life she knew and loved (both professionally and socially).
With all of this said, as those individuals who have been by her side at her weakest moments have seen her and her family’s drive to return to normal life, I humbly request to please consider donating to this amazing family. At this time, we are unsure of when Chace will be able to return to work. This has obviously put the family in a financial strain. The lack of income, medical bills, and caring for a family of five has been incredibly stressful. We would love to give our girl some peace of mind and allow her to focus on her remaining treatments and recovery. Anything you are able to offer at this time will be an extraordinary gift. Most of all, please keep all those prayers and good vibes coming… She feels all of them more then you will ever know. Every penny will be used responsibly to care for her and her beautiful family!
Thank you in advance for your kind generosity and true caring.
Love always,
Chace and her Tribe
