Help to support Ian Winrow's cancer journey
On April 12th, 2022, my family got the news that my dad, Ian Winrow was diagnosed with Stage 4 Salivary Gland Cancer and by April 18th he had life-changing surgery to remove the tumor found within his nose. After 20+ hours of surgery, the doctors successfully removed it along with his nose, upper jaw, and part of the left side of his cheek. Since that first surgery, he has gone through 30 rounds of radiation, surgery for a stomach tube, COVID-19, a perforated bowel, and the removal of his left eye. We will be getting further information by January on whether dad must continue radiation. After that, he will have a long journey ahead with many reconstructive surgeries.
Through all the speed bumps, my dad has continuously kept his humor and high hopes. However, he is running out of funds to allow him to focus on the two things he deserves, happiness and healing. Doctors have told us that he will not work again, and he has been denied both CPP and long-term disability. We have done all that we can, working alongside the cancer clinics' social worker to try to receive them. However, nothing has come of it. We are not going to quit but recently; he had no choice but to take out all the money he had saved in his pension. Anyone who knows my dad knows that he would give anything to lend a helping hand to someone in need. My siblings and I want my dad to live out his life without having the added stress of whether he will have the money to pay for a roof above his head or medical expenses such as travel costs and medications. Any help would be greatly appreciated, please keep my dad in your thoughts and prayers.
Best,
Emma Winrow
