Help Todd & Aubrey Fight Couples Cancer

We’re Team Todd & Aubrey, and we have an urgent request. We’re sisters, brother, and dear friend of this amazing couple—two self-employed artists facing a nightmare health crisis. Last December they began battling simultaneous cancer diagnoses—moderately aggressive prostate cancer for him and breast cancer for her. Together, they continue to undergo scans, invasive diagnostic procedures, and major surgical and other cancer treatments.

Aubrey & Todd’s is a true love story. Starting with a blind date 15 yrs ago, they’ve been inseparable ever since. Now they find humor in their struggle, saying “couples cancer” is just another thing they’ll do together. And they’ve done a lot together. They’ve built a small but award-winning business. They’ve jumped to donate time and art to support at-risk youth and domestic abuse programs in LA, Chicago, and Africa. Their giving spirit toward others in need is only matched by their loving concern for each other’s well being.

While visiting, I’ve witnessed their gentle mutual caregiving. After Todd’s radical prostatectomy, Aubrey didn’t leave Todd’s side, caring for him day and night despite her own post-surgical pain. During ALL this, Todd and Aubrey’s deep bond has been their bedrock. But because their business and ability to work has been hit hard, their health crisis is now also a financial crisis. With their energy focused on healing and caring for each other after the surgeries/treatments, they’re facing a growing mountain of debt from at least a half year of lost income and medical expenses. The incredible strain of this is taking a toll and is an immediate threat to their health and recovery.

This is where we come in. They've given so much to others, and now they urgently need our help. So many of you have generously reached out by text, phone, email, and social media to ask what you can do to help them. What they need most is peace of mind they can pay for their care, not having to choose between paying the mortgage or the medical bills. Their community rallying around them now can help move the needle in this scary fight and in getting their lives back afterward.
