Help Tom and Carol Sullivan keep their house.

Wednesday 12/13/23 update…..
A huge thanks to all of you out there, near and far, who contributed to our “tax relief fund”. Nearly 100 people, literally from around the world, showed their generosity in these difficult times. We are blown away and humbled. We get to stay in our house.
As I mentioned before, I’m ready to get political About this issue and take it to the state level. This shouldn’t happen to elderly who own their own home. I’ll do my best to make sure it doesn’t happen any more in our state of Maine.
Thanks again to all of you who helped us with a donation or encouraging word.
And…Tom’s health is improving daily. I expect with the relief of this burden he’ll continue to progress well.
May you all have a peaceful
And joyous holiday knowing you helped to save our home. ❤️
If you feel inclined to send a contribution by mail, please send to P. O. Box 1204, Rangeley, ME. 04970. Winter expenses still add up…propane for heat, hot water, cooking. Firewood for heat. Snowplow bills for keeping the driveway clear. It adds up so fast. ❤️
I am keeping the original text from our original request here for purposes of context. Maybe it will help someone else out of a tight spot.
“Hi Folks and friends out here in my cyber community. Tom and I have an urgent request to raise enough money to pay property taxes so that our home, that we build with our own two hands, is not taken away from us. Any amount you can spare will help us toward our goal. We are both on limited fixed income. We struggle day to day on a fixed income. I clean houses on the side, but physically at age 67 this is becoming a challenge. It’s still not enough to make ends meet. And the town has no provision for elderly folk that OWN THEIR HOMES to allows them to stay even with a lien. It’s criminal.
And only yesterday we found that Tom is suffering from a whole lot of Pulmonary embolisms. The RX that he needed to come home with last night required a “prior authorization” in order to meet insurance coverage. What more do you need to authorize an RX from an ER doc? Big pharma and insurance companies can take a flying leap!!! So the rigamoroll continues tomorrow to get this RX covered. Meanwhile I paid $10 per pill to get through to Monday morning. It’s insanity. A slow road to recovery from what was a very close call for him.
Any dollar amount you can spare to help us old folks stay in our house will be greatly appreciated. Thank you from both of us. Hoping for happy holidays. Our deadline is 12/24.”
