Help The Infinate Lovers avoid eviction.

Donation protected
Hi, this is John, along with Mark and Kathy.

We are fundraising to help our parents, Tom and Marilyn, pay rent and medical care that is past due. It is urgent that it is paid by December or they will face eviction proceedings from an assisted living facility.

I call my parents The Infinite Lovers, because into their 80's and 90's they still have a need to hold hands. When I go to visit, they are often lying in bed talking and holding hands. If my mom is in rehab and not with my dad, she always says she just wants to get back to him. When they first see each other after a hospital stay, they hug deeply, sometimes in silence. Both of them hope to be the first to die because they don't want to live without the other. It's a 70-year love affair. And we cherish the love they continue to give us.

They have never waivered in their support for us. And now it is our turn to support them. My dad does not like the fact that they now need help. I told him this is the natural cycle of life.

My dad worked hard as an accountant for a railroad company. He calculated how much overtime he needed to work to receive the highest pension amount he could to set him and my mom up for retirement. He fixed up the house we grew up in himself. The value went up significantly by the time he sold it. They bought a lake home that also went up in value significantly. They paid cash for their last house.

That served them well in the years after retirement but before assisted living. But now, many years later, they are in assisted living and on Elderly Waiver. To qualify for Elderly Waiver they first paid full price for rent and medical care in an assisted living facility. Then when their savings were spent down to a couple thousand dollars, they qualified for Elderly Waiver. Now after their savings were depleted, all of their pension is used for rent and care.

After Elderly Waiver takes all of that money my parents are given $120/ month each. That money is used to buy things that are not covered by Elderly Waiver like storage, newspaper, cable TV, phone, alcohol, additional food or beverages beyond main meals, toilet paper, paper towels, toothpaste, pullups, some medications, previous bills, etc.

$120 is not enough to pay for the first couple in that list. Because of this, they got behind on rent. They were able to pay a significant amount back. But now the assisted living facility will not negotiate a payment plan beyond December. And this is impossible within their pension amount.

Any amount donated will be used to pay their past due rent and medical care which is $7500. Any amount donated above that will be used for basic necessities the Elderly Waiver does not cover. Again it is urgent their rent is paid by December 15th to avoid eviction.

We are grateful just for you to read this, anything donated beyond that is beautiful. They will be enormously thankful for your donation.

Please donate what you can. And please share this fundraiser with your friends and family to help us spread the word about The Infinite Lovers

Thank you so much,
John, Mark and Kathy Abernathy
