Get Tom Halsall to the Roller Derby World Cup in Australia
Donation protected
Hey there, to anyone who has found this go fund me from social media or friends and family.
I’m Tom, Atomic Bomb #235. I’m 17 and Roller Derby is my passion, and I have been selected to represent Great Britain at the Junior Roller Derby World Cup this summer in Brisbane, Australia.
10,218 miles away from my home in Sheffield!
My ask
Roller Derby is a still a developing sport, with no government funding so everything is self-funded and getting to the World Cup including training, travel and accommodation will cost around £5000.
I can’t get there alone so this is why I am asking for help. Any thing that you can give, be it a donation, a share on social media or suggesting a business that might want to sponsor a local athlete will get me one step closer to competing.
Your help is greatly appreciated by me, my family and the Roller Derby community for enabling players, like me, to play and grow the sport.
About me
I first started skating in 2016 with the Sheffield Steel Junior Rollers and I have been skating ever since.
Now, nine years later, this is the last year that I am eligible to play for the Team GB Junior team so this is a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience for me. Playing at the World Cup is a dream for me, representing not only team GB but also Sheffield on the world stage.

Roller Derby is family
Roller derby is a fast-paced, full contact sport on quad skates - its been described as rugby on skates but you are the ball. Despite it’s tough image it is an incredibly supportive community and has been a huge part of my life for the last nine years, from playing with matching face paint to filling the car with team mates travelling around the country.
All my siblings grew up skating and roller derby has been a home and a family to us. It has been an amazing community to grow up in. We often joke about our derby 'parents' - of which there have been many! (Thank you Paul, Jenny, Luna, Gig, Kirk and so many more)
Why your support matters
So this is why I need your help today. Your support, no matter the size would mean the absolute world to me. Not only will it help me get to Australia, it will also help me compete at my best. Please do follow our progress at the World Cup, where I’ll be proudly skating for Team GB.
