Help Tom Lester win the race against Covid19

I would like to start this Go Fund Me with how this fundraiser came about for my friend Tom Lester. Over the summer I became aware Tom had contracted the Covid-19 virus. I had spoken to Tom several times over the summer but never realized how much he had been impacted by Covid due to Tom not wanting to bother anyone with his situation. I asked Tom what I could do for him, and he said that he could use some help with transportation getting to and from therapy. When I arrived to help, words could not express my surprise of the toll that Covid had caused to his body.
Over the past few weeks, I have had the opportunity to learn more about how “life” is going for Tom which was the catalyst for me setting up this Go Fund Me on Tom’s behalf. Covid did a number on Tom’s health, one of his lungs totally collapsed and he began getting blood clots which has made him Oxygen dependent and requires a regiment of medications for his overall well-being. Due to his weakened state, Tom cannot be on his feet for any extended period and must be on Oxygen 24/7. Tom will be meeting with his Pulmonary Doctor on January 10th to learn if he going to continue more rehabilitation for his lungs or be placed on a list for a lung transplant as his lungs are not responding to therapy as was hoped.
Many people know Tom has always been an active, physically fit person who loved to help mentoring young athletes. For the past 35 years, Tom has coached Track and Field both at the High School and Collegiate Levels. Tom is an avid sports lover and follower and went by the name “Tommy Mo” as an 810 Sports Radio regular caller. Not many may know over the summer he was hired by Blue Springs High School as an Assistant Boys Cross Country Coach. Unfortunately, before the season really got goingTom was hit with Covid and was forced to stop working in August. He is feeling the financial hardship of not having an income.
As I mentioned earlier. Tom is too humble of a person to ask for money from anyone, so I persuaded him into allowing me the opportunity to raise some much-needed funds to help him with the financial drain that this is causing. One such financial hardship is an unexpected housing situation which has forced Tom to find a new place to live. Tom is optmistic and hopeful that things will work out but told me it’s not going to be a quick fix; it reminds me of life not being a “sprint” but a “marathon”. Tom is in a race against Covid, and he needs help from anyone willing to carry the baton.
