Help Tom Shepherd get through the next 4 months!

UPDATE: we are blown away with the quick support we have received. Tom is feeling very emotional over the tremendous generosity from this community. We will continue to accept donations at this time because we are not sure if insurance will cover the transplant or how that will look yet. Thank you! We are moved! 

Tom Shepherd is a well-loved farmer, community member, father, grandfather, frisbee player and so much more. Tom has been battling bladder cancer for a year and a half and we just learned that it is so severe he will need a bladder transplant and possibly treatment indefinitely.

 

Tom is currently farming 15 acres up in Gaviota with minimal help and does two farmers markets himself a week. Right now he should be aggressively preparing for the summer season (tilling, bedding up rows, and planting) but instead he will be in n out of doctor's appointments at USC, will have an extended hospital stay and be on bed rest for weeks of recovery. Tom does everything himself in his business and needs our help!

 

The funds from this will help him get through these difficult next four months. It will allow him to pay for all of his personal and business expenses. He will be able to pay for a full-time worker on the farm to prepare for summer and pay for the help needed at farmers market. It will cover medical costs, travel costs, in-care help, food costs and so much more.

 

Tom has grown so much food for our community. It's our turn to show him how much we care!
