Help Tom Transition Home from the Hospital
Donation protected
From all the kids: Our dad/step-dad, Tom Schwanbeck, fell down the stairs days before Thanksgiving and suffered a severe spinal cord injury. After major surgery and months of hard work in rehab, re-learning everything from how to wiggle his fingers to how to move his legs, he is finally being discharged on February 8th to continue his recovery at home.
Despite his impressive progress, Tom still has very limited mobility and requires assistance for nearly all his routine tasks. He will require in-home care to continue his healing process, as well as continued bi-weekly visits to the rehab facility.
Tom is a true creative, in all senses of the word. An interior designer (the former owner of Timeless Interiors), a carpenter, a master of cooking and baking, a model train enthusiast, a story teller; Tom is someone who sees what something can be before it exists. He is working hard to re-learn how to do all the things he loved doing before his accident, and continued support is critical for his journey. All funds raised will go toward Tom's medical care and expenses, and home adjustments, including: a wheelchair, ramps to get in/out of home, adjustable bed, transportation to and from rehab/appointments, and home improvements to make the main floor and bathroom handicapped accessible.
Thank you for sharing what you can, even if it's just prayers for a full recovery. Every little bit helps!
Take care, and God Bless!
