Help Tommy Brumbelow’s Fight Against Lung Cancer

Donation protected
My dad, Tommy Brumbelow, was set to play in a golf tournament with my brother Brendt and I on Tuesday, May 21st. If you know him, he wouldn’t miss a game of golf with us over much! He cancelled due to an extended headache that wouldn’t go away, and he became dizzy and started losing his balance. Dad has never had any medical issues and has been healthy, so this was slightly alarming. After visiting a clinic that morning, they directed him to go straight to the ER. The clinic called ahead to schedule him a CT scan, and shortly later he was given a scan of the brain. By the time I arrived at the ER, he had already been scheduled for an emergency brain surgery on Thursday, May 23rd to remove a tumor that could’ve become fatal.

That surgery was successful, dad was moved to ICU for a short time, then moved back to a normal room the next day. The following day, Saturday, May 25th he was discharged to a rehab facility to ensure all of his motor functions were working properly. During his 11-day stay at Encompass Rehab, dad, in normal form, gave the nurses hell and recovered quickly! He bounced back from the surgery and feels great and now on to the next steps. After a biopsy of the tumor, we learned that he has lung cancer. Dad has been a lifetime smoker up until this diagnosis. He hasn’t had a cigarette since he was admitted on May 21st!

We are scheduled to begin his next treatments next Friday, June 14th at Texas Medical Center, MD Anderson. They are the best in the business of Cancer. I am seeking assistance for travel related expenses. Dad is retired, and will not be able to return to his part-time job at River Creek Golf Course anytime in the near future. We will be staying in a hotel or extended stay apartment for his treatments in Houston and meals, gas, and accommodations will add up quickly. Any help given will be greatly appreciated and will take one less worry off his shoulders during this process. Thank you and God bless!

Update: we surpassed our goal in less than 24 hours. Dad and I are both in awe at everyone’s generosity. We have already booked him a comfortable AirBNB just minutes from the Medical Center. Thank you so much for everyone’s contributions and continued prayers as we navigate these next steps.
