Help Tonia take down Leukemia

First, thank you for being here. Tonia – our favorite sparkly unicorn – has been a ringleader for so many of us. Karaoke, real-world wellness, building our UX community – you name it and her web is what connects us all. Now it is time to reciprocate and show her the power of this community that surrounds her.

As some of you may know, just over two weeks ago, Tonia was admitted to the hospital to complete some tests — she hadn’t been feeling the greatest and was in search of getting her sparkle back. The diagnosis, Leukemia (AML), was news no one wanted to hear. Blood cancers do not have stages, unlike other cancers, because the cancer is in her blood. The good news is Tonia and her care team are on the case! She’s already been through gene sequencing and completed the first round of an aggressive chemo regimen designed to target her specific type of AML. She expects to be in the hospital for at least another few weeks as her immune system reboots itself — hopefully with healthy white blood cells!

As you can imagine, targeted immunotherapy is expensive, and even with good benefits from her work, Tonia and Christopher could use our financial support to navigate this journey. In addition to her treatment, T&C are also on a house hunt, as they’ve been given 60-day notice that their current home is being sold. Managing both of these things together is a tall order. It takes a village.
