Hi everyone,
My name is Tony, I'm 57 years old and my favourite things in life are the NRL West Tigers, painting, a good coffee and my family.
In 2021, I was diagnosed with Cerebellum Ataxia. Cerebellum ataxia is a brain disease and is roughly defined as ‘poor muscle control that causes clumsy voluntary movements. Ataxia may cause difficulty with walking and balance, hand coordination, speech, swallowing, and eye movements.’
I have had this disease since birth but it did not surface till later in life due to my active lifestyle and love of sport.
I will be competing in the Moggil Marathon on Sunday 18th May 2024.
The reason I want to complete this marathon is for self improvement. To keep my arms and core strong and slow the progress of the ataxia. The other reason I want to complete this marathon is to help raise money for The Brian Injury Community Inc.
The Brain Injury Community Inc. (TBIC) is a not-for-profit organisation, that provides a range of community engagement activities, support services and peer mentoring for people who have been impacted by brain injury and disability. https://thebraininjurycommunity.org.au/
Any donation small or large is appreciated. Please help support me in raising funds for The Brain Injury Community to make a difference to people living with a brain injury, families and support network.
Thank you
