My Mom On The Morning of Her First Chemotherapy // Mi Mama En La Mañana De Su Primera Quimioterapia

My name is Nathalee, and I am creating this campaign in hopes of helping my mom, Toribia Chavez, with her ongoing medical and personal expenses as a result of her stage IV triple negative breast cancer diagnosis.
My mom was diagnosed in October 2017, and has since then been fighting a battle that has been physically, mentally and now financially exhausting. As we now approach almost a year of never ending tests, doctors visits and chemotherapies, our savings have diminished to the point that my mom and dad have decided to ask for help. We never imagined how life changing a cancer diagnosis would be, much less the financial burden of the expenses associated with it. If you find it in your heart to donate please do! Any amount would help my mom continue to fight her battle, and if you cannot please help by sharing and joining us in prayer as we continue to endure these harsh times with my mother.

Mi nombre es Nathalee y estoy creando esta campaña con las esperanzas de ayudar a mi mama, Toribia Chavez, con sus recurrentes gastos medicos como resultado de su diagnóstico de cancer de seno triple negativo etapa IV.
Mi mama fue diagnosticada en Octubre de el 2017, y desde entonces ha estado batallando una guerra que a sido físicamente, mentalmente y ahora financieramente agotadora. Ya que nos acercamos a casi un año de exámenes, consultas médicas y quimioterapias interminables, nuestros ahorros han disminuido hasta el punto que mi mama y papa han decidido que es tiempo de pedir ayuda. Nunca nos imaginamos cómo nos cambiaría la vida un diagnóstico de cáncer, y mucho menos el estrés financiero de todos los gastos asociados. Si lo encuentras en tu corazón de donar por favor hazlo! Cualquier cantidad ayudaría a mi mama a seguir luchando en su batalla. Toribia's Breast Cancer Journey
In June of 2017, about a month after my mom's annual mammogram, she felt a small bump along her bra band area. Thinking that it was perhaps a pimple she waited for it to go away. When it did not go away and grew instead, she decided she would show her doctor. Since her mammogram was recent and showed no suspicious activity, she was sent for an ultrasound which showed that it was a sebaceous cyst and she had nothing to worry about. Her doctor suggested she get it removed if it bothered her, but since it was benign that there was no rush or even need for her to get it removed.
After the cyst grew more and it became painful to wear a bra, she decided to see a general surgeon, as she was suggested, to get the cyst removed. Once her cyst was removed, what was thought to be an easy recovery, became very difficult, as her breast would get inflamed, turn red and purple, and become as hard as a rock. In October 2017, she would be diagnosed with breast cancer when she returned for her follow up appointment.
The following months would become very chaotic and stressful as there was an array of never-ending exams, doctors visits and procedures to prepare her to begin her treatment. After all her test results came back she would be diagnosed with Stage IV Triple Negative Breast Cancer. Her cancer had spread from her breast to her ribs and liver. With the liver being one of our vital organs, her oncologist took action immediately and began her chemotherapy the following day.
To this day my mom has been through approximately 15 sessions of chemotherapy over the span of 6 months. Being the warrior that she is, she has been able to withstand all the horrible side effects and continues to fight her battle. Her mastectomy was scheduled for September 6th, but as a result of her most recent PET scan it was cancelled. While we wait to see the results of her scan we ask that you please pray for her wellbeing during this time of fear and anxiety. Once we speak to her oncologist and know her results we will post an update! Thank you to all who have taken the time to read my mom's story!

En junio de 2017, aproximadamente un mes después de la mamografía anual de mi mama, sintió una pequeña masa en la área de la banda del brasier. Una vez que le extirparon el quiste, lo que se pensaba era una recuperación fácil, se volvió muy difícil, ya que su seno se inflamaba, se ponía rojo y morado, y se ponía tan duro como una piedra. En octubre de 2017, se le diagnosticaría cáncer de mama cuando regresara para su cita después de cirugía.
Los siguientes meses se volverían muy caóticos y estresantes ya que había una variedad de exámenes interminables, visitas al médico y procedimientos para prepararla para comenzar su tratamiento. Después de que todos los resultados de sus pruebas regresaran, se le diagnosticaría cáncer de mama triple negativo en etapa IV. Su cáncer se había extendido desde el seno hasta las costillas y el hígado. Con el hígado siendo uno de nuestros órganos vitales, el oncólogo tomó medidas inmediatamente y comenzó su quimioterapia al día siguiente.
Hasta el día de hoy, mi mama ha pasado por aproximadamente 15 sesiones de quimioterapia en 6 meses. Siendo la guerrera que es, ha sido capaz de resistir todos los horribles efectos secundarios y continúa luchando en su batalla. Su mastectomía estaba programada para el 6 de septiembre, pero como resultado de su escaneo PET más reciente fue cancelado.
