Help Toua to Live a Normal Life
Donation protected
On November 21, 2019, Toua was struck by a vehicle and was dragged for approximately 400 yards on English Street in Maplewood. The driver left the scene, leaving our brother on the road. The doctor said that if no one had found my brother for another 20 minutes, he wouldn’t be here anymore due to his critical injuries. Fortunately, there were witnesses who called for help that saved our brother’s life.
Toua was in a coma in the ICU for a month and a half. He had broken ribs which fractured his lungs causing a lack in oxygen. He had a broken shoulder and pelvis, severe road rash all over his body with some burns as deep as his spine due to him being dragged across the concrete. Toua's spine was also broken causing him to be paralyzed from the waist down. Miraculously, he regained consciousness on January 9, 2020. He is still recovering from his injuries, but he is very determined to attend occupational therapy, physical therapy, and speech therapy so he can get better. We are happy to see that he’s getting stronger each and everyday. His recovery puts a smile on all of our faces.
Toua is 20 years old. He enjoys hanging out with friends, playing basketball and video games. This tragic event has changed his life forever. He still has many battles to fight against after being discharged from the hospital. We want to provide him the independence he needs so he can live a normal life. We are grateful for any donation to help with medical and house arrangement expenses that we need to make our home comfortable and accessible for him.
The man who struck my brother has not been caught yet. If you have any information that can lead to the suspect, please contact me. For more information about the accident, you can click the link below to see the news about my brother.
