Help Towards LickyLeo's Biopsy & Lump Removal Surgery

Hey I'm LickyLeo, some of you may know me from my small business or from Instagram, Facebook etc. I am a six year old ShihTzu boy that loves to play with a football and meet other doggies when out and about.

Unfortunately mum noticed a large hard lump suddenly come up on the top of my head towards the right side and thought I may have hit my head. After a couple of days it got slightly bigger so this morning (14th August) we went to see the vet lady.

The vet said it was an unusal presentation and the only way to find out what we are dealing with is to have a biopsy. As the lump is hard it maybe difficult to get a fine needle biopsy from it and because I am also anxious and a wriggler I will need a general anaesthetic. This way if a needle biopsy cant be done then this allows for an incision and some of the hard tissue to be cut from the lump so a biopsy can then be sent away to the laboratory to get a diagnosis.

We have been given two estimate quotes from the vet, one for fine needle biopsy (which may not work due to lump being too hard) while under general anaesthetic costing £663.56 and we have a quote for an incision and biopsy under general anaesthetic for £832.04. These are only estimates and of course would need to pay for anything additional on top such as painkillers etc. Any additional funding beyond this will go towards surgical removal of the lump.

Mum did have emergency funds put away incase of a vet visit or for Poppy's (my senior ShihTzu sister) passing and cremation but she had to use it 2 months ago when I was admitted to hospital for severe diarrhoea and vomiting and needed fluids, antibiotics and pain medication (£800 in total) and then Poppy got an ear infection a few days later which was another £100.

We are not oblivious to the fact that times are still hard for many with raising prices of everything and we would rather not be doing this funding page but unfortunately we require some help to get my biopsy done as soon as possible so that we know what we are dealing with. We are hoping it's nothing nasty but if it is then at least we will know and can find out what next is required.
