Help towards our reopening
Donation protected
We have some very upsetting news to announce.
The majority of our cats have been rescues from Mill House Animal Sanctuary. We’re sorry to say that this shelter has had problems with maintaining animal health and in our attempt to rescue cats we have inadvertently brought cat flu into our home.
Whilst cat flu is quite common, it can have long lasting affects and can vary from mild to severe in rare cases, none of our cats have severe symptoms, and with help and advice from our vets they are in good health, but could still be potential carriers, so we are cautious to bring new cats in with the possibility of contracting it. Because of this we have made the difficult decision of rehoming the current cats, deep cleaning the café, and starting afresh when we reopen.
We will make a separate post in regards to which cats still need a home.
We strive to put our cats' welfare and health first and this has been a heartbreaking decision as we are extremely attached to them. We've gone over so many options. However, we feel like this is the most fair option for all the cats, both present and future.
We will be closing the cafe from 22nd July - 1st September.
We know that Tabby Teas is a special place for so many of you and we are so grateful for your support.
We understand that this is a big shock, but we are still going to be open until the 22nd July if you would like to come see your favourite residents before they go.
Change can be very scary, but we are looking forward to welcoming you all back in September with a new group of gorgeous kitties.
This GoFundMe has been set up following an influx of messages asking to donate. We are not asking or expecting this from anyone. However, it is here for anyone who would like to donate towards our reopening.
Any donations will go towards professional cleaning, vet bills for new cats (vaccinations, tests, etc) , new cat furniture, etc.
We are so grateful for all of your support.
