Help Tracey fund her cancer treatment.
Donation protected
A couple months ago one of my best friends, Tracey, was experiencing abdominal pain, she ended up in the emergency department and a CT scan showed that she had a large tumor in her upper colon. After several biopsies, she was informed by an oncologist that she has stage 4 bowel cancer. She was also advised it has spread to her liver. The tumor is big enough that it is also affecting other areas around the tumor.
She has started Immunotherapy with treatments every two weeks.
Immunotherapy is like chemotherapy, in that it is administered intravenously. Immunotherapy uses our immune system to fight cancer. It works by helping the immune system recognise and attack cancer cells with the aim of killing the cancer in her liver and try and kill and shrink the tumor. Her doctors have informed her that surgery is not an option, so she will continue immunotherapy treatments.
Tracey is currently doing well. She has undergone several tests and has had colostomy surgery to bypass the tumour. She is also currently on multiple medications that she takes daily, these are to manage her pain and treat side effects.
We aren’t too sure what the future holds, but Tracey is remaining positive and hoping for the best, she is lucky she has two of the best oncologists that Australia has to offer so she is in good hands.
As you can imagine, cancer treatments can become very costly. Tracey has also had to drastically cut her work hours as she undergoes her treatment. With the lost hours, the cost of additional medications and increasing cost of living, her husband, Logan, is considering a second job to help fund her treatment, but his time will be better spent by his wife’s side during this difficult time.
This is where we come in….
We all know someone who has been diagnosed with cancer. We have seen what they have been through. We know the financial stress this puts on them and their family.
Please consider making a donation to help fund Tracey’s treatment.
