Help Travis After Near-Fatal Pedicab Accident

Donation protected
Early morning on Friday, May 13 TH, Travis Lee ODell miraculously survived a DUI hit and run while working in Downtown Charleston as a Pedicab driver. He sustained multiple, severe injuries, including broken legs, a broken foot, a broken arm, several broken ribs, a broken clavicle and scapula, and a punctured lung. He is currently in the ICU at MUSC in a medically induced coma while his lung heals enough for surgery.

Even in the brief moments he was conscious in the ambulance following the accident, he was concerned for the safety of any others who might have been involved. This is a true testament to Travis’s kind, warm-hearted generosity of spirit, and we want to contribute in any way possible to assist Travis’s road to recovery.

We are raising funds to help defray medical expenses and replace Travis’s lost income due to his injuries.

Travis grew up in Greenwood, South Carolina and was high school valedictorian at BHP. He is a graduate of the College of Charleston Honors College with a triple major in Chemistry, Biochemistry and Biology. Upon graduating college, Travis was awarded a fellowship program in Germany to study abroad. He has worked with multiple local organizations, including Charleston Fashion Week, the Family Circle Cup and Charleston Wine and Food Festival. Travis is also a proud homeowner and Airbnb host. He is a current member of Bethel United Methodist Church and former choir member at Bethel. Travis spent several summers working for the Folly Beach Ocean Rescue Team and saved a young girl from a shark attack during his tenure with Ocean Rescue. He is an avid runner and has run several marathons, including the Chicago Marathon yearly for many years. He also loves dancing and recently performed at the Charleston Music Hall in Dance Lab's royalty-themed show. He's a highly creative person and is well known for his elaborate Halloween costumes and fashion sense.

Travis is a proud Charlestononian and loves being of service to other people-- he has helped so many of his friends and family over the years and now it is our chance to give back to him during this difficult time.

Please consider any contributions you are able to make and continue to send your prayers, love, and healing to Travis. He is receiving excellent medical care and is a healthy young man, but his injuries are extremely severe and extensive.

Thank you very much for your support!
