In the early hours of November 2, 2023 I woke up to the worst nightmare of a fisherman's wife. At 2am the Coast guard called telling me they had rescued my husband from the ocean as his boat had capsized. He and I are very grateful that Travis is ok and we thank the fisherman that helped him and kept him safe until the Coast guard could arrive. Unfortunately, the boat that he had worked on so hard these last weeks is going to need to be rebuilt. In addition, all his equipment and tackle as well as the motor is lost. Travis is one of the hardest working guys I know. He started his fishing business from scratch with a 15' aluminum lake boat and upgrading to the 24' fishing vessel he has today. He's put blood, sweat, and tears for the 8 years he's been building this business, and you can see it from his product that he sells he takes pride in his work. Travis is the kind of guy who will help out anyone he comes across whenever he can, and now he needs our help! I know this community can rally behind him and show him that we have his back. We would be forever grateful for any help we can get.

From Travis' point of view:
As some of you have already heard early morning nov 2nd while asleep on anchore my bait tank outflow was clogged and spilled over onto the deck for approximately 3 hrs. With scupper plugs in for the night and no high water alarm the vessel was overwhelmed by the water. I woke up to a slight list and about the time I stepped on deck the corner went under. With literally no time to think I was able to get a mayday call out to a friend near by before I was in the water. After approximately 5 min on the bottom of the hull yelling to nearby fisherman 2 boats came to help Adam Zetter FV The Proper Chap and FV Strata with first mate Jeff at the helm. So thankful to both for the quick response. After being picked up by Adam and securing the overturned vessel I was able to get dry and start to collect some of the floating gear. towboatus_ventura made a timely effort to get a salvage crew together and made the 60 mile run up the coast showing up just before sunrise. They assessed the vessel and made a plan to tow upside down into shallow water to begin the process of righting the vessel, these guys are pros and nailed it on the second go. After a bit of tow and Adam and I running around gathering whatever came up they where able to get it stable and headed towards Santa Barbara Harbor. They made it to the dock with no other incident.
Unfortunately, for me I have spent uncountable hours getting this rig ready to fish over the last 3 months and it seem those efforts may have sunken to the bottom of the ocean along with 3/4 of my gear. Unsure of my next steps, I will continue to fish the Ono and re build what I can. I am eternally grateful to the my family and friends for the support and love im getting right now. Without you it would be impossible to push on. My wife has started a go fund me to try and aid in the efforts.
