UPDATE as 12/04/24:
It is with deep sadness that we share that Travis Schroeder passed away on Thanksgiving Day, in the company of his daughter and wife after his courageous and long battle with cancer.
Travis was and will be an exemplary father and husband, an amazing friend, a devoted catholic, a good son, an avid language learner, a storyteller, a dedicated teacher, a book lover, the best cook, a versatile gardener, and Jeopardy finalist.
We have no words to thank you all for being with us in this incredibly difficult time of our lives.
We are blessed to have you: friends, family, HHS students, teachers and staff, PCC and CHOMP doctors and staff, friends of friends, family of friends, teachers and friends from Sacred Heart church and school, the Portuguese community from Igreja das Cinco Chagas, and this awesome community in our town.
God bless you all -Amelia and Elizabeth

Eternal rest grant unto Travis, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and all the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen. (Thanks Mrs B for sharing this prayer).

UPDATE as 11/22/24:
Last Sunday (11/17) Travis was emergency hospitalized due to lack of treatment. Not receiving his medication caused his condition to worsen. He is struggling to breathe and went from needing 4 liters to 15 liters of oxygen in 5 days. This means that he cannot stop or take any breaks between treatments. It is a 21-day treatment, but he needs to take it continuously. The cost of this medication is $ 25,000 per treatment.
Given the imminent need to obtain this medicine, his oncologist and his team obtained the medication and it was administered just yesterday, but it will run out in 20 days. The insurance will not cover nonstop refills of the treatment.
We continue to ask for your financial support and prayers so that we can have the treatment in hand when we run out. The goal is to obtain 50,000 dollars, which would buy backup treatments and with with God's love we could extend Travis' life.
Thank you, blessings.

11/16/2024:
Since Travis Schroeder's diagnosis in the Summer of 2012, he has endured continuous cycles of different kinds of therapy (chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and gene therapy). Last year has been especially difficult and painful for him, his wife, and his 13-year-old daughter, Elizabeth.
The cancer is spreading to his organs and has gradually weakened him. He has undergone several surgeries to remove fluid that had accumulated in the pericardium, including an open heart surgery. Currently, he must undergo a procedure twice a week to remove fluid that builds up around his lungs.
In June, he had a CT scan that determined a poor prognosis. He then began treatment that would give him only two more months to live.
The treatment called Stivarga has extended Travis' life beyond those initial two months. This medication and the grace of God have allowed Travis to continue here accompanying his family.
However, the health insurance has determined that it WILL NOT COVER the cost of the medication which is $25,000 per treatment.
This is the reason why we ask for your financial support to obtain this medication as quickly as possible. The goal is to obtain 50,000 dollars for now, which would buy 2 treatments. With this, we could extend Travis' life for Thanksgiving, his birthday (December 20), and Christmas, and thereby gain a little more time, so that with the favor of God, during that period this treatment or a new one is authorized that may help him pause or cure the disease.
Please, help us to reach the goal of $ 50,000 that may allow him to keep being the amazing father and husband he is.
Thank you!
Travis, Amelia and Elizabeth Schroeder.
