Help Trayce Worley LeClair, a Devoted Mother and Teacher

"Hi, I’m Melissa, Trayce’s sister. Today, I’m reaching out with a heavy heart, because our family is facing a challenge we never imagined. We need your help.

Trayce is more than just a mother to her 2-year-old daughter and 14-year-old son. She’s a force of love, strength, and inspiration to everyone who knows her. For 13 years, she has poured her heart into teaching special education at Nassau County’s Southside Elementary School. As the 2nd Grade Level Chair for 8 years, she has touched the lives of countless children and families, giving so much of herself to make a difference. This year, her dedication was honored when she was named Southside Elementary’s Teacher of the Year and was recognized as one of the top five finalists for Nassau County Teacher of the Year.

But now, Trayce is facing a battle of her own. She has been diagnosed with a rare and aggressive Stage 3 Breast Cancer. The road ahead is daunting, with at least a year of intensive treatment, including three, possibly four, surgeries. The costs are staggering—medical bills, uncovered surgery expenses, COBRA insurance at $809 per month—and on top of that, the loss of income after she exhausts her sick leave and FMLA. And then there are the costs of getting to and from treatments, prescriptions, and all the other necessities that come with fighting this terrible disease.

Trayce has always been the one to give—to her students, her family, her community. Now, she needs us to give back. She needs our love, our prayers, and our support.
