Help treat Khanza's brain tumour!
Donation protected
A couple of months ago, my friend and colleague Syukur, originally from Indonesia, told me about his five-year-old daughter Khanza, who got diagnosed with a brain tumour in Sydney, just as he was wrapping up his PhD at the University of New South Wales.
While the diagnosis was formed in Australia where the family had lived for some time, Syukur was told he would not be allowed to work in Australia on the visa he was granted for the length of Khanza’s treatment.
After leaving for Indonesia in a hurry to start Khanza’s treatment as soon as possible over there, the family is facing a difficult time. Treatment for Khanza’s tumour can only be administered in the capital Jakarta, and the family therefore had to relocate there, a 4 hour flight from their hometown and close relatives. But rent in the capital and private insurance for fast access to medical care are expensive, and Khanza’s heavy treatment, with chemotherapy once a week for 12 to 14 months, means that her parents have to juggle a lot of balls while taking care of their little girl and her younger brother.
We are setting up this campaign to alleviate some of the financial stress arising from this situation. As you can imagine, any contribution will greatly assist Syukur’s family at this difficult time, and ensure that Khanza is treated in the best conditions.
If you would like to contribute to Khanza’s medical care, please consider making a donation. Many small droplets can make rivers, so any amount will have a positive impact and help Syukur’s family at this time.
Together, let’s give Khanza the best chances of recovery!
