Help Trevor Short’s Family

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Melissa Powers and we are fundraising for Trevor and his family to help with medical expenses. As many of you are aware Trevor was involved in a very serious car accident on Saturday, August 26th. He was flown to Shock Trauma in Baltimore where he is staying in the Neurotrauma ICU. He is in critical condition, but stable and sedated. He has had one surgery to replace discs in his neck, which has stabilized his neck enough for some elevation of his head. The focus over the next few days is monitoring the swelling in his brain to try to mitigate more damage, as well as the bruising in his lungs. All thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated as these next few days will be critical for the potential of a full recovery.

UPDATE 8/29/23
Trevor is hooked up to an EEG to monitor for seizures. Thankfully he has not had any other seizures since the one occurred at the scene of the accident. They put chest tubes into the area where his lungs are in each side since they were partially collapsed. This is allowing air to be sucked out so that his lungs can expand again. He is receiving respiratory therapy treatments to help remove any secretions in his lungs and thankfully there were no secretions today. He was moved to a recliner chair for a few hours to help with his breathing and to get out of the bed. He had a fever yesterday but thankfully his temp is down to 99 F. They are continuing to drain the fluid around his brain to keep the pressure down. Trevor is still sedated and intubated and wearing the neck brace since the accident and the neck surgery 2 days ago. Thank you everyone for the love and support!

Update 9/1/2023:
Trevor had a rough night and morning, but things have improved. I did not want to send an update without some positives.
BP, temperature, brain pressure and heart rate are all within normal limits right now.
Antibiotic has been changed to one for pneumonia.
Face swelling has gone down.
He is receiving lung treatments 6 times a day.
Brain pressure is down enough to clamp the drain off.
BP medicine has been paused because BP is within normal limits.
Temperature is being controlled with tylenol and the cooling blanket.
Thank you for all your prayers!

Update: 9/3
Trevor had his brain drain removed yesterday. They were also able to remove him arterial line and right chest tube. The EEG got taken off his head because he was not having seizures. They seem to have found some medicines that help with his storming episodes. Because of this his heart rate, BP, and temperature were all within range all day.

Update 9/4: Trevor had a great night with no storming episodes. He has been taken off of his drips and his sedation is turned off. He is breathing on his own without the ventilator. They still have the breathing tube in to provide pressure so that his lungs do not stick. He has started moving his arms more during neuro exams.
