Help Trix Walk Again: Support Her Surgery

Hi friends of animals-

My name is Karlie, and I normally wouldn’t do anything like this, but I’m grasping at straws to help give my dog the best quality of life she can have.

Trix is a 2-year-old red husky with beautiful blue eyes. I rescued her from a husky shelter in Texas called “Hoardin' Huskies.” I paid the adoption fee, and they had her transported to us here in Illinois. I have had her for 5 months now. (It was very funny watching her experience our first Illinois snow, lol)

Trix was involved in a hit and run on February 5th, resulting in a terrible fracture to her leg. She completely broke her right front distal radius and ulna.

Trix is a very healthy girl who is full of life and good spirits. She’s extremely active and loves to be outdoors! Our favorite thing to do is go on long walks with my other husky, Luna. We love to explore and go to parks.

I attempted to have the vet splint her leg to try to avoid the crazy cost of surgery, but they were not able to reduce it, and her bones are laying side by side. If it stays without surgery, her leg will be shortened, and she won’t be able to use it.

To get surgery on her leg, they estimated a cost of $3,800-$5,000.

I’m going to give it a shot to raise as much as I can to help put towards her surgery so we can continue to do what we love together and so she can use all her legs for the rest of her furry life.
