Rain (Dozhd TV) was shut down for the first time by the Russian government on its 10th day on air, in May 2010. TV Rain survived.

When in 2014, TV Rain’s coverage in Russia reached 30M households, and we were telling the truth from Maidan in Ukraine, we were thrown away from all cable providers, expelled from our studio and forced to broadcast from an apartment for several months. We began again.

By February 24th, 2022, we were getting hundreds of millions of views on YouTube. During the first week of the war, we worked 24/7 to broadcast the voices of Ukrainian to Russians. Then, on March 1st, the Kremlin banned and blocked our company, so we said goodbye to our audience and left Russia, scattered across Europe to wherever we could.

On July 18th, 2022, we came on air. We established an EU company and got a European media license. Now we produce three hours of news daily for the Russians, our permanent audience – millions of people.

We believe that the Russians deserve more than propaganda. The state has brainwashed a huge number of people and uses their delusional support as an excuse for war, tyranny, and the violation of laws and human rights. We believe that such an attitude towards your country’s citizens is a crime, and we want to give the Russian audience an alternative: information about the war, propaganda, corruption, about the actual situation of a citizen of the Russian Federation.

Global finance has stopped working with Russian banks, so payment tools such as banking cards, apple pay and google pay have stopped working in Russia. The mission of TV Rain is to provide people within Russia and Russian-speaking audiences outside the country with independent and unbiased information on everything happening in Russia and the global ramifications of what is happening in Russia and Ukraine. In addition, our mission is to tell the world the stories of those under state pressure and persecution, whose human rights are taken away by the government, and therefore try to protect them.
